Ukraine: tomorrow peace event in Naples, Segre – Campania letter opens

25,000 expected from schools, no politicians from the stage

(ANSA) – NAPLES, OCTOBER 27 – A text by life senator Liliana Segre will be read tomorrow at the opening of the peace demonstration promoted in Naples by the governor of Campania Vincenzo De Luca. The appointment is from 11 in Piazza del Plebiscito where the stage was built to listen to the voices of those who “ask for a ceasefire to open a real negotiation”, said the president of the Region.
The voice from the stage will not be that of politicians (no intervention planned, not even by De Luca) but of local associations, religious organizations, students. 25,000 students and professors are expected from the schools. The representation of the bishops of Campania will also be on stage, with the president of the Episcopal Conference Antonio Di Donna.
The demonstration divided politics. The Democratic Party has joined, which will be represented by the president of Naples Paolo Mancuso, but also a part of the 5 Star Movement which, however, will not be present with all the elected officials. For Italia Viva, explains the regional coordinator Ciro Buonajuto “the regional councilors will be present but not the party, because at the national level there is a clear demand for Ukraine, without equidistance”.
In addition to Gaetano Manfredi, mayor of Naples and the Metro, the Uil and CGIL unions, but not the CISL, will be in the square, while the Anci will bring the city of mayors and councilors from the municipalities of Campania. The event includes an initial video to tell the war and then the interventions will begin. The duration is about an hour and a half. Many schools have responded to all the appeal, with the city of buses that, thanks to funds allocated by the Region, will bring the children to Naples also from other provinces.
Strong repercussions on traffic are expected: the Municipality invites the Neapolitans to use only transport tomorrow morning to move around the center. (HANDLE).
