Portugal warns citizens about travel risks to Abuja bombing alerts
“Due to the dissemination of news informing of the possibility of a terrorist attack in Abuja, we recommend that you avoid all non-essential trips to this capital”, read the alert published on the MNE’s Portal das Comunidades.
In the alert, it is added that it is not possible to avoid going to Abuja, so preventive measures must be taken, such as avoiding “places of large agglomerations of people, such as temples, shopping centers, sporting events, markets and even travel, headquarters of international organizations and government buildings”.
In addition to Portugal, countries, the United States and the United Kingdom updated their respective trips to Nigeria, advising their nationals to also travel to Abuja, the capital of West Africa, due to the increased risk of attacks.
The Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs makes it clear on its website that “Nigeria is a very high risk country from a security point of view”, and therefore advises against traveling to the country.
The Spanish Government highlighted, that “no area of Nigeria is free from security risks” and that previously there are very large areas and levels of another region of citizens” in many regions of the country, including “included” the safe capital, such as , Abuja”.
