Lotus’ new electric car is the cheapest in Norway
The British brand will go from offering small sports cars to becoming a global car brand. The launch is called Lotus Eletre, and is nothing less than an all-electric “hyper-SUV”.
Lotus is primarily known as a brand for British customers, and more precisely for those who would like to drive small sports cars with two seats that offer a bucket of driving pleasure. Cars such as the Elise, Exige and Evora have ensured that.
But this is history, because the brand that now belongs to the Chinese Geely group, where we also find brands such as Volvo and Polestar, will now expand its customer group. They will simply become a global brand.
The move to ensure that is simple. More seats and all-electric drivetrain.
First up is the electric car Eletre, and this is an SUV for safety’s sake. However, a lightning fast and very modern SUV. To check this:
- There are three versions, Eletre, Eletre S and Eletre R.
- The “kindest” version has 603 hp.
- The worst version offers 905 hp.
- Battery of 112 kWh.
- The range is 600 kilometers.
- Charging from 10-80 percent in 20 minutes
- 0-100 km/h takes less than 3 seconds.
- The top speed is over 260 km/h.
- 5 driving modes, active air suspension, torque weights, Matrix LED headlights, active front grill.
- 15 speakers and 1,350 watts.
- An ultra-slim liquid one billion color OLED touch screen. 15.1-inch OLED screen.
- Lotus Hyper OS that uses the “Unreal Engine” for more realistic graphics and a more futuristic visual effect.
- 12-way electrically adjustable front seats, 4-zone automatic climate control and “intelligent cockpit”.
This is a completely opposite car to the small and low Elise, and the right-hand drive Eletre measures 5.10 meters in length, 2.14 meters in width, it is 1.63 meters high and has a wheelbase of 3.02 meters.
Yes, even the wheels are gigantic, because here we are talking about 22-inch rims. It is even possible to order it with 23-inchers, as well as 20-inchers for those who want it.
Lotus obviously has ambitions to go head-to-head with brands such as Bentley and Rolls-Royce, and will also offer its own rear seats for those who may wish for such a configuration. But they haven’t forgotten their sports car-an.
So there are three versions from the start, and whatever you choose, it goes away.
Eletre and Eletre S have 603 hp and offer a range that sounds like 600 kilometers. The top version Eletre R has 905 hp and a maximum range of 490 kilometers. The torque is respectively 710 and 985 Nm, and all this allows for 0-100 km/h in either 4.5 or 2.95 seconds.
Yes, did we mention that the Eletre R has a top speed of 265 km/h.
There is also a bunch of aids that make the car quite self-driving in given situations, automatic updates through OTA are open in place, and the car has been tested so much on the Nürburgring that Lotus just as well developed a separate Track mode that opens up to all the forces and pointed driving characteristics.
It’s even possible to get the Eletre R with a Lotus Dynamic Handling Pack, Carbon Fiber Pack, shiny wheels, stainless steel sports pedals, black badging and high-performance tires. In that case it should go away around the Nordschleife, yes, if you have remembered to charge it then.
The car has thus been premiered, and thus the prices are also clear. And one of the eight key markets will be Norway, so the Norwegian price has also been announced. We’ll get to that soon.
But first we have to hear what the head of Lotus Cars has to say about the electric car.
‒ Confirming the pricing and specifications of the Lotus Eletre is a key point in our transition through the Vision80 strategy. We know from the media and feedback from customers that they are hugely excited about this car – in fact, Eletre has already won awards as “the car we are most waiting for in 2023”. Customer deliveries will start in the first half of next year, says Matt Windle, adding:
‒ The launch of Eletre is the natural next step for Lotus. 2-seater sports cars are not for everyone and we want to offer a Lotus for every stage of your life. Eletre is the start of that.
So how much does a Lotus Eletre cost? Well, we expect that the British have not taken into account any new taxes on electric cars that will most likely come when we enter 2023, and without such pictures, Eletre will actually be the cheapest here in Norway.
The starting price is NOK 887.90, while the euro price is over 95,000 euros. At the time of writing, it is NOK 983,000. Over in England, they have to fork out £89,500, which is NOK 1.07 million.
Here is the complete price list:

As with many other more luxurious cars, there are plenty of options on the extras list, and all three versions of the Eletre can be had with things like the Lotus Dynamic Handling Pack, Ceramic Brake Pack, Executive Seat Pack, Comfort Seat Pack, Carbon Fiber Pack, Extended Carbon Fiber Pack and Interior Carbon Fiber Pack.
ADAS packages (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) are also available – the Parking Package and a Highway Assist Pack.
