The strike is called. The pension reform and the lack of confrontation by the government led the unions to take to the streets and protest. Citizens are invited to strike. There is a unanimous yes from the trade union delegates’ Active, gathered this morning in the Montelupo room in Domagnano, at the general strike to ask for changes to the pension reform, the renewal of all expired contracts and a support plan against expensive bills. In front of a packed audience, the three General Secretaries, Enzo Merlini (CSdL), Gianluca Montanari (CDLS) and Francesca Busignani (USL), underlining the continuing difficulties of confrontation with the Government, took stock of the reforms under discussion in the Council, on the renewal of expired contracts and outlining the trade union strategy in view of the meeting of the Great and General Council in mid-November. Tomorrow a document will be sent to the Congress of State and to all the councilors, listing the critical points of the reform project which reached its second reading. Three above all: the forced withdrawal from the reserve fund, without providing for an agreement between the parties; the burdensome disincentive plan for early retirement, which mainly affects women; the postponement of the reform of the second complementary pillar (Fondiss). “We ask all the councilors – say the Secretaries of CSdL, CDLS, USL – that our proposed changes discussed and transformed into amendments to be jointly at second reading” (…)
