Repubblica Futura: interventions to count the abandonment
Government activity is needed, also through forms of tax incentives, to favor the renewal of contracts at levels that make it possible to cope, as much as possible, with the increase in the cost of living: this is what the directors of Repubblica Futura supported in the last Finance Commission, intervening in comma communications. The issue does not appear on the political agenda, because we tend to think that it is something “reserved” to the social partners (apart from the PA contract, where the State is an employer and therefore must deal directly with the issue) . Under normal conditions this may be true, but in a phase like this, with a provision so that it erodes the purchasing power and which is combined with the recessive interventions of the Government (reduction of Smac petrol discounts, doubling of pension bills, etc.), contract renewals become one of the few ways to help families maintain a minimum of purchasing power. It is clear to everyone that very few, or perhaps no company may be able to guarantee today to increase by almost 10% to follow the wait, unless they are moving towards a rapid: the increase in prices affects, in fact, even on their margins, reducing the spaces for intervention and forcing them to contain costs. What firms can afford are contractual increases on the increase in labor productivity, which normally is (or should be, in efficient countries) higher than but is clearly marking time now. We even find it difficult to measure productivity, and this is a big limitation for us, but it is necessary to improve on this front in order to arrive at this fundamental data as soon as possible. Once this has been done, a rule is needed that will give tax incentives, at least for some time and until the abandonment will remain so high, an increase in wages even to the increases in productivity recorded with certain limits. “In situations like this” – affirms the director of Repubblica Futura Andrea Zafferani – “it is essential that the State supports the contractual tables also with direct interventions. Tax-freeing companies, through forms of tax credit, the salary incrementals, for the part of the increase that exceeds the increase in productivity recorded and clearly with fixed limits, could help to guarantee higher contractual increases to cope to the dear life, without weighing on businesses. It is a costly measure, but the theme is always the same: to define the priorities well for such a difficult phase. If the Government had not thrown 14 million euros out of the window in higher expenses in the budget adjustment in June, today resources for this and other interventions. The government needs to take on the issue, at this historic moment, with a precise and well-determined action on income policy ”. “It is no longer possible to differentiate a timely and urgent intervention to increase wages that can cope with unique inflation rates in recent decades” – adds the parent company of Repubblica Futura Nicola Renzi – “the atmosphere is worryingly eroding purchasing power of families and individuals. The defense of purchasing power, on the agenda in all European countries and beyond, in our country seems absent from the thoughts of the Government, which evidently prefers to dedicate public resources to something else, such as useless and superfluous advice to be told things already well-known to all”.
