The message in full:
Salzburg – On November 17, the 48th Salzburg Christmas market will open on Domplatz and Residenzplatz. One of the most beautiful traditions at the Salzburg Christmas market is the appearance of the Christ Child and his angels. The search for a new Christkindl team is currently underway. Girls aged 16 and over can register until November 3rd www.christkindlmarkt.co.at/christkindsuche apply for it.
Together, the heavenly team will inspire young and old visitors to the Salzburg Christmas market on the Sundays in Advent and on the following Wednesdays. As a reward for the Christmas commitment, children’s eyes will shine, as well as a small payment, shopping vouchers, a photo shoot, appearances in small commercials and special media training.
“The Salzburg Christmas market would like to convey an authentic and local tradition to its guests. In addition to the traditional experiences such as the Perchten Run, tower blowing, choir performances and much more, the beautiful tradition of the Salzburg Christkind is of course also part of it,” explains the chairman of the Salzburg Christkindlmarkt, Wolfgang Haider. “We are looking for communicative girls who have a little acting talent and foreign language skills and are not afraid to recite short texts in front of many people.”
Performances by the Salzburg Christkind on Wednesdays and Sundays
The Salzburg Christ Child and his two angels are popular interview partners for TV teams and journalists from all over the world. The guests of the Christkindlmarkt look forward to taking photos together with the Christkind and the angels. The snapshots go around the world. The magical Christkindl team will be presented to the public for the first time on the first Sunday in Advent (November 27th). Further performances follow on the Sundays in Advent and on Wednesdays. Particularly popular with our little guests: the Salzburg Christkind reads Christmas stories and helps fill out postcards, which are then sent up into the sky in a balloon. New this year: The Christ Child invites you to go ice skating on Wednesday.
Between 15 and 20 girls apply each year for the roles of the Salzburg Christkind and the angel. After registering in advance, the young girls can audition in person on November 4th in the RTS studio. The jury’s choice will remain top secret until the official presentation on the first Sunday in Advent at Salzburg’s Domplatz. The custom of the “Original Salzburg Christkind” has existed since 1974.
