Innsbruck jubilee: more than a hundred years old
Josefina “Peppi” Psula celebrates her 103rd birthday in the Saggen dormitory.
INNSBRUCK. Deputy Mayor Johannes Anzengruber was enthusiastic about Josefine “Peppi” Psula, when he presented her with best wishes and a colorful bouquet of flowers on her 103rd birthday in the Innsbrucker Sozialen Dienst GmbH dorm in the Saggen district. “Dear Mrs. Psula, I wish you all the best and, above all, the best of health on your special day today. I’m amazed at how agile and lively you stand in front of me,” Vice Mayor Anzengruber welcomes the Mölltal native.
Big celebration together
The sprightly senior citizen has been living in the Saggen dormitory for six years. She enjoys the fact that she can still do a lot of things on her own and can occasionally help the home staff to fold the towels. With her cheerful and modest manner, Josefine Psula expresses that she is consistently satisfied and appreciates the support of the nursing home staff, as well as her short walks in the spacious park of the home or along the municipal waters. Even before the birthday visit, the 103-year-old was celebrated for her old age. Many celebrated the senior citizen, who herself had worked in the catering trade for many years, in an Innsbruck inn. In addition to a daughter and two grandchildren, Josefine Psula now also has four great-grandchildren and even three great-great-grandchildren among her descendants.
Nursing manager Stefan Moser also congratulates the jubilee on her birthday and demonstrates her humorous nature with an anecdote. Not only on her day of honor, but also recently, nursing manager Moser praised her chic wardrobe and Ms. Psula replied with a tongue-in-cheek “To fall in love, but not to war, Mr. Moser”. The laughter was very big and her son-in-law emphasizes: “Yes, that’s how she is, mom. Always a joke on her lips.” In a convivial atmosphere, Mrs. Psula talks about her young years in the old Carinthian homeland, with which she obviously still has very close ties.
A look back into the past
As one of five children, she was the youngest of the bunch and, as a latecomer, always ready for fun. In the dormitory café, she raves about the beautiful alpine pastures and hikes in the local Möll and Drautal valleys, being together as a large family on the farm, the exchange after the Sunday service or about the fact that she is the only woman who goes hunting with her brother-in-law and other gentlemen was taken away. At the end of the visit, Vice Mayor Anzengruber says goodbye with the wish to be able to visit the lively “Peppi” Psula again on her 104th birthday.
