CoV autumn wave over earlier than expected
Health
The coronavirus autumn wave should have been overcome in Salzburg. At least the state statistics interpret the current figures in this direction. 200 fewer new infections were reported every day this week than the day before.
The number of reproductions is also declining this week and the CoV traffic light has turned yellow again for the first time in weeks, which means that the risk is medium and no longer high. The autumn wave started in Salzburg two weeks earlier than expected, but according to state statistics it lasted less than feared.
An infected person infects less than one person
After a month, the high rate of infection should flatten out. State statistician Gernot Filipp sees at least the peak passed, which would also be proven by the current reproduction number of 0.95. An infected person infects less than another person, which means that the number of infections automatically decreases. Around 300 new cases are reported every day at the moment. The 7-day incidence in Salzburg is currently below 700, so Salzburg is doing very well across Austria.
More vaccinations again
In the hospitals, too, it is expected that the number of CoV patients will fall in the coming days and weeks. At the moment there are 88 people in the hospitals, two of them in intensive care. The number of vaccinations in Salzburg is increasing again and has recently doubled. In the first half of October alone, as many Salzburg residents were vaccinated for the fourth time as in the whole of September. There is enough vaccine, says vaccination coordinator Rainer Pusch. 25,000 vaccinations per week are possible.
