A new team full of ambition at the Ymca residence center
It is on the magnificent panoramic terrace which dominates the Rhône and offers a breathtaking view of Avignon and the Palais des Papes, but also of the Philippe le Bel tower and Mont Ventoux, that the new team of the Ymca Gard-Pont accommodation center d’Avignon had invited its guests for the official reopening, after a long period of standby.
Indeed, this residential center with an educational, cultural and sporting vocation has reopened its doors with a brand new team full of ambition for this place whose history dates back to the 1960s. At the time, it was necessary to find a place to welcome groups of young Germans as part of post-war Franco-German reconciliation.
An investment of €450,000
It is a German Karl Bühler, the emblematic director, who rented the huge villa overlooking the Rhône to make it a Ymca center. Since then, a lot of water has passed under the Avignon bridge, the villa has been bought and the center has grown! “After a very long and beautiful story, we must find a new breath”, explains the new director, Antoine Maire. This second breath firstly went through an investment of €450,000, as pointed out by Hervé de la Morsanglière, the president of Ymca France, owner of the site. Alongside the director, the new team, with Laureen Lanssens, customer and public relations manager, and Jonathann Mouy, building manager, intend to open the doors of the center wide and have a very strong territorial anchorage.
It can rely on a terrace with a panoramic view of the Rhône and the Palais des Papes, an outdoor swimming pool, a performance hall for 120 people, a connected and equipped meeting room, a catering area and a bar, 140 beds and 40 rooms or dormitories. With tourist, international, cultural, heritage, sports, school stays, seminars and even stopovers on the menu!
If we add room locations, accommodation, catering and events, the range of offers should satisfy many requests.
