The US, the UK and the EU are taking a harder line against China. Norway is going the opposite way, according to experts.
BRUSSELS (Aftenposten): The EU has discussed the relationship with China. In advance, the EU’s foreign ministers were consulted.
In China, the Communist elite meets for a week-long party congress. At the same time, the EU’s foreign ministers have discussed the relationship with China.
Ahead of the ministerial meeting, the European Foreign Service came in for advice.
- Don’t be fooled by China’s Russia rhetoric. The two countries have a strong strategic partnership, although China is apparently trying to distance itself from Russia and its threats to use nuclear weapons.
- Warn Beijing against invading Taiwan. The EU wants its members to signal that a military escalation against Taiwan will have consequences.
