New state parliament: This is how Innsbruck will be represented at state level in the future
The new Tyrolean state government, with its eight state councillors, was presented to the public by Toni Mattle and Georg Dornauer. With Mario Gerber, an Innsbrucker is represented in the government for the departments of economy, tourism and digitization. There are also members of the state parliament from all parliamentary groups and a federal councilor from the state capital.
INNSBRUCK. Christopher Apple (VP club chairman in the municipal council) moves into the meeting room as the new member of the state parliament for the ÖVP. With the Greens Gebi Mair (since 2008 in the LT) and as a new MP Zeliha Arslan (Municipal Councilor) from Innsbruck represented in the state parliament. For the NEOS pulls Dominik Oberhofer (Residence in Innsbruck, in the LT since 2018) re-entered the state parliament.

The state party executive of the Tyrolean People’s Party has a unanimous Senior Citizens’ Association Chairwoman Klara Neurauter (Substitute municipal councilor for the Tyrolean Senior Citizens’ Association) nominated as Federal Councilor. The federal councilors have the right to sit and speak (no voting rights) in the Tyrolean state parliament.
Mario Gerber
The tourism expert, who lives in Igls, has been a member of the Tyrolean state parliament since 2018. Gerber was part of the ÖVP’s negotiating team when it came to forming a government. Mario Gerber, born in 1981, attended the commercial academy in Innsbruck in 1995/96 after elementary school in Igls and secondary school in Wilten. He then completed an apprenticeship as a hotel and hospitality assistant. He has been working as a tourism expert and hotelier since 1999, initially as an employee in the family-owned Gerber Hotels in Kühtai, later as their managing director and shareholder. In the last term of office in the state parliament, he worked in the committee for housing and transport, the financial control committee and the committee for economy, tourism, energy and technology. He was also the spokesman for tourism and economy.

In September 2018 he became deputy chairman of the hotel industry association in the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber (WKÖ). In April 2019 he was elected chairman of the Innsbruck-City Business Association. In June 2020, he was elected Deputy Chairman of the Federal Department of Tourism and Leisure Industry of the Austrian Economic Chamber for the term of office until 2025. As chairman of the Innsbruck Tourism Association (TVB), he succeeded Karl Gostner in November 2021. In the Tyrolean Chamber of Commerce, Gerber is the chairman of the tourism and leisure industry division. With the takeover of the government office, there WILL be corresponding personnel changes.
