Marseille: an off-duty policeman found a kidnapped premature baby
After being abducted yesterday morning from the Marseille maternity ward, a 5-day-old baby was found by a policeman who was on leave and was about to take the train via the “travel and protect” device. The child had been taken away by his parents against the advice of the courts.
The scene took place on the platforms of Marseille Saint-Charles station yesterday. It is almost noon when a security guard asks for a man he recognizes as being an off-duty policeman, having already worked with him in the past. The agent knows that an infant was abducted the same morning from the maternity ward in Marseilles and he noticed a couple who intrigue him.
The policeman goes to meet the man and the woman, states his status and asks the 28-year-old woman if the baby she is holding in her stockings is hers. She affirms that this is the case and that she recovered it from the hospital the same morning when she no longer has custody of it following a court decision. But she refuses to entrust the child who is screaming against her chest to the policeman.
infant cared for by firefighters
The situation is delicate, the infant is premature, he needs medical care. After taking them to a room away from the hustle and bustle of the station, the police officer has managed to gain the trust of the mother who entrusts the baby to him so that he can check on his state of health. In the meantime, the policeman dialed 17.
The child, who is the subject of a criminal protection order, is thus quickly taken care of by the firefighters who confirm that he must be brought back to intensive care in pediatrics. His mother and the man who accompanies him are arrested by the police and the staff of the Bac for the kidnapping of a child under 15 by ascendant.
