Also among the winners Paolo Marcolino, researcher, founder and specialist in otolaryngology applied to diving, lecturer and of the OTUSUB research team. “About 20 years ago I created this group of otolaryngology applied to diving, where almost all divers are enrolled – says Marcolin – Before there was no attention to the subject. In the two congresses a year we organize, one of which with a navy, we face the pathology linked to the ear in underwater activity. The problems of those who go into the water are of an otological nature for 80 percent. Anyone who is dedicated to this sector must know the dynamics of the ear. I was born as an all-round otolaryngologist ”.
Over the years Marcolin has refined his discipline towards this type of pathology. “To date, as a sorting center for pathologies at national level – continues the scientist – Before the advent of my group, it was little studied, in fact we are appreciated and present throughout the national territory. In areas where there are diving centers, such as in the province of Naples, there is a lot of attention to this sector. Even the little diving instructor can and must have knowledge through the conferences and activities we carry out. In the sports field, we promote twinning with diving centers to ensure that all people who interface with diving can have basic knowledge of the pathologies “.
