Fair and independent advice has top priority / Liechtenstein Life consumer survey
For most Germans, fair and independent advice is the most important criterion when taking out life or pension insurance through an intermediary. This is the result of a representative survey by the opinion research institute Civey on behalf of the insurer Liechtenstein Life. However, the answers from over 2,500 selected participants show that there is a need for clarification when it comes to paying intermediaries. And: Young people have different priorities and a different information background than the average population.
For most people in this country, fair and independent advice is the key criterion when taking out life or pension insurance through an intermediary (46%). For 35%, rapid asset accumulation with ongoing costs has priority. 32% of supporters have no particular priority. For 21%, transparency about the agent’s payment is the decisive criterion. Multiple answers were possible for this question.
A different picture emerges in the 18-29 age group. Here, the desire for rapid wealth accumulation at the same costs is the focus for 58% and is thus significantly more pronounced than the average of the survey (35%). Fair and independent advice is particularly important for 41%. 21% favor transparency about the payment of the agent, a total of 19% have no particular priority.
Compensation knowledge is buildable
When it comes to the possibilities of remuneration for insurance intermediaries, there is a need for clarification: almost a quarter of the respondents do not know how insurance intermediaries are paid or are unsure (23%). Around 40% consider payment by the insurer from customer contributions to be the usual form of payment. Only 8% name the agency fee. Only 28% assume that both remuneration models are similarly possible when taking out life or pension insurance.
A comparison of the age groups shows that younger people in particular are better informed than the general public about the possibilities of remuneration for intermediaries. In the 18-29 age group, 41% know that both payment models are possible when taking out life or pension insurance through an intermediary. For comparison: In the target group over 65 years it is only 25%.
“The survey results show that customers across all age groups arrange mediation and insurance solutions that put them and their specific needs in the foreground,” says Stephan Bruckner, Director Sales Germany. “With the smart, investment-oriented insurance solutions from Liechtenstein Life, we can not only offer tailor-made provision that can be configured for the respective life situation and the individual goals of the customer. ”
