Ayşe Erkmen’s work “The Golden Horn is on the Golden Horn” meets Istanbul
The Istanbul Biennial, a project managed by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (İKSV), is to continue to meet with the future of Koç Holding from 2007-2036, a project that will be with it since 2017. With the Istanbul Biennial, Koç announced that the artist Ayşe Erkmen, who is among the names of contemporary art in the world, will be transferred to the water belonging to the 17th Istanbul Biennial. In the different moments of color, the color options and the nightlight in the form of the Golden Horn and when combined with the golden sun, are located in the section known as the “golden side”.
His work “In the Golden Horn”, “In foreign languages, as ‘Haliç/Golden Horn’, the attractiveness of the Golden Horn is a ship and a ship for me, a gondola or a strangely shaped aquifer or even a smoke… It is said that the form got the name of golden forehead when combined with the golden sun reflecting on the Golden Horn in the evening. This shape is actually a contour, an outline. I wanted to fill in this line, create a place, a space, and do this in the Golden Horn”.
Koç Holding Board Chairman Ömer M. Emphasizing that the Koç Group is many in number as artistic and unifier, it is invaluable to an example of good and unifying believers in art, which is an example to culture. How happy; It also strengthens our aim to make a more livable planet possible, feeding on the common mind, offering proposals and allowing free expression. As Koç Holding, with the sponsorship of the Istanbul Biennial, the Biennial will be able to create free-of-charge, multi-user production of modern art, and to enable large audiences to engage in widespread art. How long will it be ready for a need in my great reaction that will last this year from 2007 to 2026, the year of stay until 2036. With the decision to be made in 2017, it will be decided that Istanbul will not bring a work to the Biennial, but rather a gift. In 2017, the world-famous actor Ugo Rondinone’s ‘Where Are We Going From Here?’ to place the neon sculpture, on the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge road, at the Mustafa Kemal Cultural Center in 2019, as a work of Monster Chetwynd’s outdoor installation ‘Gorgon’s Playground’ in Maçka Art Park. We are excited that the 17th Istanbul Biennial will be full of once-in-a-lifetime events this year. Ayşe Erkmen’s name, which is always our own production, was taken from the Biennial with this work and transferred to Istanbul, the main purpose, which is to inspire, to continue. we.”
Bülent, Chairman of the Board of Directors of İKSV, said, “Supporting the production of art in Istanbul Kültürza and participating in the Istanbul Foundation as a city that breathes with culture and art are our most important things. With every biennial since this great 2017, it is a great chance that we can save Istanbul with an old work. I sincerely thank Koç Holding, the sponsor of the 2007-2036 Biennial, for the support of this work, for bringing one of Turkey’s contemporary artists, Ayşe Erk, to our city where it was placed.”
