Archdiocese of Salzburg: Parishes invite you to the “Night of 1,000 Lights”
On the evening before All Saints’ Day, the “Night of 1,000 Lights” takes place in Salzburg. The evening is organized by the Salzburg Catholic Youth.
SALZBURG. One day before All Saints’ Day, numerous churches and chapels shine in candlelight again on the “Night of 1,000 Lights”. The basic idea of the “Night of 1000 Lights”, which takes place on October 31st, is to discover the “sacred”. “On All Saints’ Day we not only commemorate the officially canonized, but also all ‘everyday saints’. These are, for example, people who are particularly committed to helping others,” explains Elisabeth Huber-Walch, coordinator of the “Night of 1,000 Lights” in Salzburg.
Each parish has its own theme
The project is designed by young people for young people. You are responsible for organizing and choosing the topics. “Everyone is invited to immerse themselves in a special atmosphere that invites you to rest, meditate and marvel. Each parish has its own theme, including right in the middle, the path of mercy or peace. The Taizé prayer in St. Mark’s Church in the city of Salzburg is new , in which one’s own thoughts are given space before God through silence, prayers and songs,” says Huber-Walch.
