Also in 2022 no Amadeus Horse Indoors in Salzburg
The Amadeus Horse Indoors were planned from December 7th to 12th this year, with international show jumping and dressage sport up to four-star level, as well as World Cup stages for dressage riders and vaulters. But nothing will come of it now. “The planning was too uncertain due to the Covid situation,” explained Thomas Kreidl, part of the organizer team since the beginning of the AHI, to the Crown newspaper.
In 2020, the tournament was not held on the usual date in December due to the pandemic. Instead, a slimmed-down version was pulled through a month and a half later in the middle of a tough lockdown. In retrospect, not the best decision, as Kreidl admits, because the AHI, which had no public and no trade fair, was a big hole in the budget.
Of the surprising death of AHI boss Josef Göllner in March 2021 made it even more difficult to provide the immense financial resources that an event of this magnitude requires. “Not easy in these times, but we will find the money,” says Kreidl optimistically in an interview with the Kronen Zeitung for a new start in 2023.
Deadline for 2023 is set
There may then also be support from the state of Salzburg, as Deputy Mayor Bernhard Auinger indicated: “The Amadeus Horse Indoors is very important for Salzburg.”
In any case, Messe Salzburg has already scheduled a date for the equestrian event for 2023. If everything goes as planned by the organizing team, there will be neighing and snorting again from December 6th to 10th in the exhibition center in the city of Mozart.
