San Marino. “No to the obligation of cremation of the dead”: citizens are mobilizing
We receive and publish a note from Giovanni Giardi relating to the presentation of an Instance of Arengo on the subject of the cremation of the dead.
A group of citizens have taken on the concerns and dismay of many citizens and families for not respecting the last choices of their own lives or those of their loved ones. They have therefore taken action to collect signatures for an instance of arengo so that the will of the individual is respected not to necessarily have to resort to cremation on his death, but to be able to legitimately benefit from niches or burials.
In a few days, this instance has reached a massive acceptance of many things that are firm.
It is evident that even a government like this cannot be obliged to cremate, but the will of this imposition has been demonstrated in facts and over the years: a previous instance on the same subject (approved by the council) was ignored like the many arguments requests from individual citizens. This situation has “forced” them to take the bodies to distant cemeteries with discomfort for relatives, cemeteries in any case then exhausted, making cremation obligatory for many even against the will of the deceased. The living rights family members in even more distressing remembrance of the death of their loved one and following violated their core state standards.
A sad inconceivable situation if we are the ones that the costs for families the state are too limited for the construction of the state culi. Is there anyone who plans to benefit behind these inhumane choices?
We do not want to question the freedom of choice of cremation, but we want it to be as free as any other legitimate choice.
Can the harassment of a government continue even after death?
