“Future” houses that allow you to save energy have already arrived in Portugal
Portugal is one of the countries in Europe where it is colder indoors. This reality is being counteracted by a new concept: houses built with the entire sustainable concept, with energy efficiency, where, for example, the temperature remains uniform throughout the year.
The ‘Passive Houses’ were born in the 90’s in Germany, and in Portugal only four houses are certified, but several have already been built according to this concept.
They are considered interior and more efficient housing to be more energetic. Those responsible for the construction of these houses pay attention to every detail. From the window frames to the insulation of the infrastructure, nothing is forgotten, so that energy is not wasted.
In summer the temperatures in the interior do not exceed 25ºC and in winter they are not lower than 20ºC. Miguel Marcelino, from passiveHaus Portugal, guarantees that these homes have a consumption reduction of around 65% compared to a new building. In relation to an existing building, this can reach 90%.
Studies show that Portugal is one of the European countries with the greatest poverty, but now these houses can help to counter this national reality.
At a time when houses are rising in energy prices more and more to reflect on a more economical way of renting and cool down as housing, these may even become obligations of the very near future.
