San Marino. General Corrado Carattoni is the new Superior Commander of the Militias
General Corrado Carattoni is the Superior Commander of the San Marino Militia.
The appointment took place in the Great and General Council on Monday.
General Carattoni succeeds the General Leonardo Maria Lonferniniwho ruled the military institution for over seven years, until the age limit that the Military Congress established for Senior Officers was reached.
Carattoni, like his predecessor, boasts a long militancy in military roles: enlisted in the Guard of the Great and General Council in 1970, he became Commander with the rank of Captain. He then entered the role of Superior Officer, he held the function of Inspector of the Guard of the Council, Deputy Chief and Chief of Staff, up to becoming Inspector General of the Militias with the rank of Colonel.
“I welcome this great honor with the awareness of the importance that this new one has for the growth of our functions Military institutions, to which I will try to give my best support, as did my predecessor, my friend General Lonfernini who, I am sure, continues to support me with his experience and great skills, in order to perpetuate a tradition so genuine and so fundamental for the affirmation of the sovereignty of our beloved Republic. ” These are the first words of the new Superior Commander.
