Room 40 live from the CNR of Pisa. The circular economy to fight plastic pollution LIVE from 10.30
The appointment with Aula 40 is back, the format conducted by Massimo Marini live from the CNR of Pisa
Thursday 20 October, in the new appointment of Room 40 in direct from the CNR of Pisaand until December 15, issues that have a lot to do with the times we are living will be addressed. The environmental emergency, the energy crisis, the increase in energy raw materials it is putting us in front of a new challenge.
During these 5 episodesthat will be connected and connected with each other, we will tell how the Researchnot only today, but for years, it has been showing us the way forward to overcome the many, perhaps too many, crises we are experiencing in this historical period.
In the episode of Thursday 20 October from 10.30 we will start talking about circular economy and plastic pollution.
The packaging it is one of the sectors most responsible for plastic pollution and for this reason it has been the subject of numerous regulations in recent years aimed at reducing its dispersion into the environment. For this reason it is important to turn more and more to the alternatives offered by scientific innovation to meet increasingly specific requirements.
There technology making available not only biodegradable or compostable packaging, but also starting from waste materials of vegetable origin, with a view to circular economy and minimization of waste.
Simona Bronco, head of the secondary office in Pisa of the Institute for Physical Chemical Processes of the Cnr (Ipcf-Cnr), with his group he deals with the study of materials of different nature (food waste and paper for packaging, but also inks, fabrics and wool , wood, etc.) that can be reused as a secondary material and also contribute to greater sustainability, including packaging. With these new materials it is possible to create not only containers for food use, but also supports for handling plants or other.
There are also intelligent packaging, able to release active molecules that can reduce food waste and related costs, as well as increase the safety and durability of the product contained. Francesca Cicogna, researcher at the Institute of Chemistry of Organometallic Compounds (Iccom-Cnr), who studies polymers: plastics but also polymeric materials from renewable sources, for example deriving from food processing waste, will talk about it.
This and the aspired Genoa and two financial processes aimed at were born from a collaboration between Aula 40, Dr. Katiali, scholarship holder of the Institute for Physics of the CNR from the Tuscany Region with the resources of the POR FSE TOSCANA 2014-2020 in the context of Giovanisì.
The project aims to train technology transfer professionals and they all have a strong interdisciplinary vocation. 3 grants have been financed at the CNR area of Pisa, including comparing the energy, economic and ecological crisis (CLIMATE) at the Institute for Chemical-Physical Processes.
