India, Sweden join forces for green transition | India is blooming
New Delhi/UNI: To strengthen mutual commitment to drive prosperity and address global challenges such as climate change, India and Sweden have come together to accelerate the green transition through innovation through the India Sweden Innovation Partnership.
The partnership builds on the joint statement between the prime ministers of India and Sweden in Mumbai in 2016, the joint action plan agreed in Stockholm in 2018 and the India-Sweden virtual summit on March 5, 2021, an official statement said on Tuesday. .
The strategic partnership will be further accelerated with a focus on green transition at the 9th India Sweden Innovation Day on October 27, the statement said.
The cooperation is established on the principles of co-financing, co-development, co-creation for mutual benefit and fully utilizing complementary strengths, the statement added.
Robin Sukhia, Chairman of the Sweden-India Business Council (SIBC) said, “India and Sweden jointly presented the Leadership Group for Industry Transition (LeadIT) 2019 and share the common goal of ensuring sustainable industrial development and addressing climate change.
“India Sweden Innovation Day is the next step forward in this direction to strengthen government and industry cooperation between the two nations to exploit new opportunities and promote technological innovation.”
Tanmaya Lal, Ambassador of India to Sweden and Latvia, said: “Accelerating an inclusive green transition is key to our collective sustainable future.
“Collaboration for innovative solutions to meet global challenges through climate action, inclusive development and public health by jointly developing clean technology, smart grids, circular economy and healthcare is the heart of India Sweden’s innovation partnership.”
