This is a first in France. In Marseille, a squat has become a “temporary reception residence”. In the summer of 2021, several illegal occupants were able to enter this empty building at 25, rue Saint-Bazile, in the 1st arrondissement, by taking advantage of the open windows on the first floor.
The squatters in this building, mostly Sierra Leoneans asylum seekershenceforth residing there until the end of March, within the legal framework of a temporary occupancy agreement signed with the Regional Public Land Establishment, to which the building belongs.
