Fraud, Norway | Fraud attempts against bank customers
– In the last week, the number of notifications that are captured in our internal notification systems has increased tenfold, says supervisor Marit Sola in the security department at Sparebank 1 SR-Bank to Dagbladet’s The stock exchange.
The fraud attempts are not only aimed at SR-Bank, and Sola will characterize it as a massive attack against bank customers throughout the country.
The fraudsters often pretend to be the bank, the police, a debt collection company or the like and ask customers to provide sensitive information such as account number, password, pin code and the like.
Sola says the banks, or others with honest intentions, will not be privy to such information.
