An above-average number of sick leave and too few staff for the trolleybus operation will lead to further restrictions on public transport in the city of Salzburg from October 24th. For the second time this year, Salzburg AG has to increase the frequency and activate the summer timetable.
Instead of every ten minutes, buses will drive to the state capital from October 24th. only every 15 minutes. For commuters and schoolchildren, however, additional buses are used in the morning and at noon in order to be able to continue to guarantee the ten-minute interval at peak times. This is the second time in four months that Salzburg AG has restricted its timetable. The head of trolleybus operations at Salzburg AG, Gerlinde Hagler, speaks of the last possible measure.
Administrative staff transferred to driving service
“Due to the combination of high levels of sick leave and vacancies, this measure. We are forced to make timetable adjustments as one of the last steps we take. We have already outsourced line 9. We used administrative staff for the driving service,” says Hagler. The restricted timetable was evaluated at the end of November. Hagler leaves it open when the trolleybuses in Salzburg will run again at regular ten-minute intervals.
Transport association: No price increase in the new year
Due to the current increase in prices and as compensation for affected passengers, the prices for public transport tickets will not be increased in the coming year. The state of Salzburg, Salzburg Verkehr and the transport companies have united on this, the Salzburg transport association announced in a broadcast. Despite inflation, there will be no tariff adjustment as of January 1, 2023. This applies to all Salzburg climate tickets, route tickets, the myRegio weekly and monthly tickets, as well as all individual tickets and the prices for the student network tickets.
