Volleyball. AJM/FC Porto beat Sporting 3-1 in Lisbon
Just as Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa was expected earlier this week when he handed over the Supercup trophy at the Museum, the defeat in the derby against Porto Vólei was the mother of many AJM/FC Porto victories. Less double than 24 hours after the undisputed triumph over Ginásio Vilacondense, the National Women’s Volleyball Champions went to Lisbon to beat Sporting 3-1 and close the weekend’s journey with a flourish.
Outsiders damaged when caused by geographical and calendar people, as the white and blues were in better condition than their rivals and immediately imposed the opening set, won by 25-20. More fresh, as sportsmen responded and confirmed that the task entrusted to the title holders was not easy. After clearly losing the match (15-25), the blues and whites pulled the gallons to regain the lead on the scoreboard by the same partials with which they had already made the 1-0 (25-20). In a third stop-and-answer set played from start to finish, AJM/FC Porto wasted three match points but ended up sealing the victory in the classic with a 26-24 score.
“It was a very intense, emotional and balanced game. The first two sets were unbalanced. We don’t have the first one with great security and we won, no second Sporting was superior and limited us to being inside the field. The third and fourth were not always donated but they were very disputed, with the teams taking risks. It was a game between teams that were initially fighting for a place in the top eight, then in the four and in the end for the title. Of course, the games will be like this all year”, declared Rui Moreira after the end of the fight.
Another clash of maximum difficulties of doors follows, this time in Matosinhos against Leixões (Sunday, 16h00).
