Mission celebration for new pastoral workers
Salzburg, October 16, 2022 (KAP) The Salzburg Vicar General Roland Raser sent three women and three men to pastoral work during a service on Saturday afternoon. The six new pastoral employees – two of whom were unable to attend the mission ceremony due to illness – are active in youth work, hospital pastoral care, in missionary pastoral work and in parishes in the Archdiocese of Salzburg. Rasser represented Archbishop Franz Lackner, who was ill, at the broadcast ceremony.
“How do I get a job?” – This question, according to Vicar Rasser in his sermon, arises in every life. “One way is to follow an example or to enjoy a task.” Then there is a third way. “When an inner spark seizes me, which becomes an ignition spark and starts an engine.” This motor puts man on a track, which becomes a path as he walks.
Rasser addressed the candidate and the three candidates: “I believe that you too have been put on the track by an inner spark.” The task field is described in the gospel with a vineyard. The bottom line: “You are not alone. Our heavenly Father is the vine grower. He is in a way responsible for the strategic decisions. Jesus is the vine. That means he is deeply rooted in our lives. The essential thing is that the branches, well you, as collaborators on this vine, remain united – with the Lord and with one another.
The money from the service collection goes to Bokungu-Ikela, Salzburg’s partner diocese in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
