Adamu makes impressive use of the chance at Salzburg
Red Bull Salzburg have to put in a lot of work in the away game against Wiener Austria to be able to secure a 3-1 win in the end. Man of the evening was Junior Adamu, who made impressive use of his chance in the starting eleven with his first Bundesliga hat-trick.
Junior Adami surpassed himself.

die Viennese Austria after winning the derby, he just barely misses the next prestige success and has to settle down Red Bull Salzburg finally beaten 1:3 in front of their own audience. Against the series champions from the city of Mozart, they offered a refreshing performance over long stretches, but in the end it wasn’t enough to win a point in the Generali Arena. Junior Adamu, who was able to celebrate a hat-trick in the Bundesliga for the first time in his career, stood out among the guests. “I’m very happy. I did my thing, wrote hard for it and keep doing it,” beamed the Salzburg match winner in an interview on “Sky” after the game.
Head coach Matthias Jaissle also gave special praise to the attacker, who often had to be content with playing the joker role this season. “When you make three crates it doesn’t add much. He did that very well, implemented the things that we want to see in the coaching staff and took the opportunity very well.” Adamu could have done it earlier after his opening goal, when he narrowly missed making it 2-0 in the 35th minute. But instead of scoring the second guest goal, Austria managed to equalize through Dominik Fitz. “We know that it’s always difficult to play against Austria. They are a strong team,” said Luka Sucic. “But we wanted to play our game and we succeeded.”
Adamu makes the decision
While the hosts from the federal capital probably showed themselves to be equal in the first 45 minutes, the Austria squad, decimated by numerous cases, ran out of breath in the second round. Especially after the game against Villarreal, the violets from the federal capital are missing the last few percentages, which means that the Salzburgers got more and more into the game and found a few chances. “First and foremost, the defeat wasn’t necessary again. It’s just not enough to be close. That’s the difference in quality. If Salzburg get a chance, they convert it into a goal 99 percent of the time. That’s not the case with us. We felt the triple strain, but the second and third goal must never happen like that,” says coach Manfred Schmid annoyed.
After goals were disallowed by Maximilian Wöber, it was Adamu who immediately scored the opening goal for the Mozartstadt team in the 74th minute. Only a little later he finally decided the duel in Vienna with his third goal after a mistake by Austria keeper Christian Früchtl. “It was our goal to take three points home with us. I proved in Zagreb that I can perform well and I keep going like that,” said the three-goal scorer.
After the 3-2 win in Altach, Salzburg are victorious for the second game in a row and have not been defeated in 14 Bundesliga games against Austria Vienna. Next Wednesday, Salzburg will continue against Admira in the ÖFB Cup round of 16, Austria will face Wiener Sport-Club on Thursday. In the next round of the Bundesliga, there will be a top duel between the league leaders and the first pursuer, Sturm Graz. “It will be a different story against Sturm. I’m looking forward to it,” Adamu looks forward to the top game with anticipation.
