The forecast of the meteorological company AccuWeather for Europe for the year 2022/2023 mentions the La Niña phenomenon in a big way. Imeteo.sk explains that it is an oceanic and atmospheric phenomenon that is the cold counterpart of El Niño. According to experts, it will gain strength, even during the autumn and winter period.
The third winter under the influence of this phenomenon awaits us, so it may be similar to the previous one. Currently, the forecast predicts that while the Nordic countries are in for a very mild winter, Great Britain and Ireland will be quite troubled. Bigger frosts are supposed to hit there. Parts of western, northern and central Europe are in for a drier winter – there will likely be less precipitation than normal, and therefore less snow. A completely different situation should arise in the south and south-east of Europe, where heavy rainfall is expected.
