VILLENEUVE-LEZ-AVIGNON A whole weekend to celebrate architecture at the Chartreuse
This Friday evening opened the “Architecture en fête” weekend at the Chartreuse de Villeneuve-lez-Avignon. Visitors will be able to discover astonishing routes, exhibitions or even take part in a guided tour by an artist who is familiar with the place, Pascal Quignard. A beautiful program which prefigures the 50 years of existence of the national center of the writings of the show.
Do not miss the exhibition “Voyage d’Orient 2.0, dans la roue de Le Corbusier” retracing the cycling journey of Benjamin Revire (from the architecture, town planning and environment council CAUE Hérault) and Simon Billaut in the footsteps of the mythical journey of the architect made between 1910 and 1911 from Berlin to Istanbul. We discover photos and sketches of places which have remained the same or which on the contrary have been completely transformed in 100 years. ” Our modes of travel make us a little passive in the face of the landscapes we cross. The idea was to better experience this passage from the West to the East by bike. That we don’t feel this effect of being catapulted into a culture that we don’t understand. In reality, this passage is done with many nuances“says Benjamin Revire. As an architect designing spaces for sedentary people, he liked to adopt a nomadic position during this project.
Another highlight this Saturday, from 3:30 p.m., six graduate students from the National School of Architecture in Montpellier and the Order of Architects of Occitanie will talk about their end-of-study architectural project in 360 seconds. . On the same model as the “My thesis in 180 seconds” competition. This weekend also marks the start of Architecture Month: 160 events are planned throughout Occitania until November 14.
