Portugal Fashion: Andreia Reimão wins Bloom with male-inspired collection
The second day of Portugal Fashion was marked by the end of the competition that rewards new talents in national fashion. The award was given to Andreia Reimão after having passed the hands of another designer by mistake. Kaya Magalhães received an honorable mention.
Known for being a launching pad for young creators residing in Portugal, the bloom again featured in the closing of the second day of Portugal Fashion.
The contest started this Thursday (13) at 6:30 pm, half an hour later than expected, due to backstage delays. But the wait was worth it.
YOU finalists in the contest – Atelier Mobleu by Camille Moço, Kaya Magalhães, Bolota Studio, Andreia Reimão, Zalda, Arthur Kunha, Celeste and House of Wildflowers – presented six models from its collection at catwalk of Porto Customs, in front of the judges and the audience that from start to finish will always remain attentive and lively. At the end of the parades, an honorable mention was awarded to Kaya Magalhães and the victory to Andreia Reimão.
The winner of this edition of Bloom received 3,000 euros to develop two collections (1.0 euros for each) that will start 50 future editions of Portugal Fashion.
In addition to a value, the victory gives the designer the opportunity to Internship nine months paid at Zeitreel, with the possibility of training work in the brands in its portfolio (such as Salsa, Zippy and MO). still attend a good postgraduate studies in fashion management from Católica Porto Business School, among other benefits.
Andreia Reimão was not expecting the distinction. Due to a name change, the award was given to another designer. When the bug was fixed, it turned out to be a surprise: “I’m confused, it was very strange. This is what I was not expecting”confessed at the end to JPN.
Passionate about fashion since always, Andreia Reimão began her studies in 2015, at Porto Fashion School, where it participates in several competitions. During the pandemic, in 2020, the Reimão project, focused on men’s fashion. “My collections always have an issue related to the masculine”, sometimes questioning him, explaining.
That’s what happened to the “Please (behave)” collection, which won this year’s Bloom award. A designer in a photographic series by Pawel Jaszczuk, who captured images of drunk businessmen in Tokyo: “Apparently they are an accepted cultural phenomenon and this is extremely interesting”, explains. The apparent paradox of these men if in society, despite everything, right at the entrance was explored by the creator through the use of various materials, such as lace, tulle, sergebetween others. “I mixed everything and cried this universe of mine”said yet.
YOU accessories the key point was created to reinforce the atmosphere of the universe, using slippers, business bags, pens, earrings and bottles.
ONE honorable mention of Bloom, the second most important prize of the contest, was awarded to the brand Kaya Magalhães which received the prize of 1,500 euros for the next development, which will also be a service in Portugal Fashion editions. The winner will also benefit from an internship at Zeitreel.
The brand was created by Carlota Magalhães and identifies itself as romantic, history to culture and childhood memories. The designer’s goal is to convey that “adulthood can and should be as fun as childhood and adolescence”. The models presented are colored, oversized and a mixture of various styles, such as punk, prostitute, handsome casual it’s romantic. This collection shows that adults can have fun and be creative with clothes.
Both award winners will now have support and support services business mentoring of ANJE – National Association of Young Entrepreneurs, Portugal Fashion organizer.
Hugo Costa assumes the coordination of Bloom
Before taking the leap to the catwalk director of Portugal Fashion, it was in the Bloom space that Hugo Costa presented several of its collections. O designer now assumes the coordination of the contesta new and even “more challenging” condition.
“It’s an overcoming edition for everyone. The conditions, as we know, are public and are a little different. This is an appointment issue and very challenging for everyone and for me even more so as the new Bloom coordinator”declared to the JPN.
Regarding the challenges that the funding for Portugal Fashion sees in terms of matter, the creator in difficulty an opportunity: “Perhaps the ideal time to reinvent ourselves and also to raise awareness as authorities, the Government, of the importance of national fashion.
