“It’s a real mafia, Pattarello scarred Trabujo in the courtroom”
VENICE – “The scar caused by Paolo Pattarello to Loris Trabujo is the demonstration that we are facing amafia association because this is a typical behavior of that world ». To say this yesterday in the bunker courtroom, during the preliminary hearing of the investigation into New Mala del Brenta who – according to the prosecutor’s office – wanted to take back the Tronchetto and govern the drug trafficking between Mestre and Venice, was the prosecutor Giovanni Zorzi. A reference to Pattarello’s gesture – as well as the fact that he was unable to sell the seized because no one wants them in Venice – useful to the prosecutor to pull the sprint to the final request: that is, the trial of all seventy-eight defendants.
THE DEFENSES
And it is there that the tourbillon opened yesterday’s hearing before the preliminary judge, Benedetta Vitolo, between requests for abbreviated rights (24 defendants, but the judge has yet to decide on their admission) and the will to going to play all out in court, with a trial, expressed by the main defendants. With the exception of Loris Trabujo, 53, the Venetian entrepreneur in the water transport sector accused of being the number two of the alleged criminal association of a mafia type, as well as the author of numerous robberies confessed in a controversial interrogation in the prosecutor’s office that would be the basis of the disfigurement and the license of “infamous” both given by Pattarello.
The first to reply to the thesis of the prosecutor was the lawyer Giorgio Pietramala, lawyer of Gilberto Lolli Boatto, former head of the Mestrini of the Felice Maniero gang and considered the deus ex machina of the resurgent Mala. “There is no mafia,” said the lawyer, asking Boatto not to proceed with reference to the accusation of mafia association. “And even Pattarello’s disfigurement in Trabujo is nothing more than a gesture that is the fruit of a criminal culture for any widespread crime, according to which whoever speaks after an arrest is an infamous”. A concept also taken up by the lawyer Mauro Serpico, lawyer, among others, of Denis Trabujo (Loris’s brother): «Judge, don’t let yourself be blinded by the smoke in your eyes thrown by the prosecutor with that scar. The conduct of certain subjects should not be confused with the behavior of those who make up an association and also of a mafia type »he said before concluding without asking for alternative rites. Trabujo’s companion, Sara Battagliarin, is also at risk: discussing her position, the lawyer Stefania Pattarello explained that “for the purpose of crimes there is nothing new with respect to the ordinance that had rejected the measure and as regards the ‘criminal association, if there is to be an indictment, it must be made by simple association ». Paolo himself defended the lawyer Pietro Masutti, who represented Pattarello, 74, considered one of the leaders of the criminal organization in the courtroom.
THE SHORT
His procedural process, different from that of the other alleged leaders, Loris Trabujo: he is the main name among the twenty-four who applied for an abbreviated sentence, aiming for a one-third discount on the final sentence. With him also Festim Shemellari, author, with Trabujo, of the robbery of the motorboat driver Stefano Fort, robbed of 500 thousand euros as a result of the sale of his company, including a rental license with driver.
THE ACCUSATIONS
Seventy-eight defendants, thirteen of whom accused of mafia association: to them, including Trabujo, Boatto and Pattarello. In all there are 141 charges including extortion, robbery, drug dealing, theft and other crimes.
