City of Salzburg – meeting table: Just sit down and talk to each other
Is there anyone missing to talk and exchange ideas? Or would it be nice to just get to know new people? It has recently become possible to make new acquaintances in cafés, bars or bistros in the city of Salzburg. Getting to know people in an informal way who likes to talk to others, whether about current topics of the day, everyday activities, leisure activities, hobbies or other topics. “We know that increasing loneliness is a major social problem today. More than 1.5 million people lived in single households in Austria in 2021. Older people in particular do this particularly often. As a city, we want to counter this with our new campaign and leave no one behind alone: Feeling lonely was yesterday. At the meeting tables there is space for young and old, for people of all genders and from all over the world,” explains City Councilor for Social Affairs Anja Hagenauer the new campaign.
How does the meeting table work?
On certain days of the week and at certain times, interesting people can sit down at a table reserved for this purpose in selected locations – see below – and talk to others, chat, exchange information or just listen to them. Participating catering establishments are marked with a corresponding notice.
You can visit alone or with friends. Simply sit down and chat along is the motto at the meeting table. Don’t be surprised when someone sits down at the table and starts a conversation. During the entertainment & no drinks or food are consumed – the meeting table is a no-consumption place. It is important to conduct the conversation politely and appreciatively.
