Netflix launches cheaper package with ads. Portugal is not included for now | Streaming
Netflix announced this Thursday that it will launch a cheaper subscription plan in November, but with ads, in an attempt to introduce new subscribers after having lost registered in the first half of the year.
According to the information not available place, the plan will be available for $6.99 (about 7.20 euros), three dollars less than the lowest ad-free price. This new option will launch in 12 countries between November 1 and 10. For Portugal, there are no planned launch data for now – in Europe, the countries included are France, Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom, on the 3rd of November, and Spain, on the 10th.
Subscribers with this new “basic with advertising” plan will be subject to “about four to five minutes of advertising per hour,” according to the company. The advertisements will be shown before or during the series or subscriptions that you choose to see.
The conditions do not stop there. According to Greg Peters, Netflix’s COO, about 5% to 10% of the platform’s catalog streaming Will be available due to non-licensing. And users will also not be able to launch content to see off.
The decision, which had already been in the works for several months, represents a version of the North American company’s streaming. For several years, the directors firmly stick to the introduction of advertising on the platform. In April, faced with a drop in the number of subscribers during the first quarter and in stock market fall, as the needles began to point in the opposite direction.
“At Netflix we have a huge opportunity ahead of us to grow and get more subscribers. And part of that is having a wide price range,” Greg Peters said Thursday.
