Alpine Club “Bergler Salzburg” celebrates 100th anniversary
The “Bergler Salzburg” alpine club had reason to be happy last weekend. Both the club and their own hut in the Tennengebirge celebrated their 100th anniversary.
This event was duly celebrated – with a year delay due to the corona virus – in the Salzburger Müllner Bräu. The traditional “Bräustübl” offered the ideal ambience to toast the anniversary together with guests from the Alpine Club, club colleagues from the “Edelweißer” and the partner club from South Tyrol, the Alpine Society “Bergler Bozen”.
The perfect occasion to take a look back and reflect on successes. Then as now, the club members share a deep passion for the mountains and nature. For all of them, alpinism was and is pure fascination for beauty, which is always associated with respect and appreciation.
Things to know about the club:
The “Alpine Association BERGLER Salzburg” was founded in 1921. At the same time, the club hut in the Tennengebirge, which still exists today, was acquired. Thanks to the loving care of the hut wardens and club members over the years, it has remained in almost its original condition to this day.
Numerous first ascents in the Tennengebirge, as well as later in the Andes and in the Himalayas, can be attributed to the association and have been appropriately acknowledged in Alpine literature.
The active members of the association continue to undertake numerous mountain, climbing, canyoning, ski, mountain bike and high-altitude tours at home and abroad every year.
