The First Maltese Engineer Elected to the Executive Board of FEANI
Ing. Michelle Cortis
Engineers Malta is honored with the election of Eng. Michelle Cortis to the Executive Board of the European Federation for National Engineering Associations (FEANI) as a member from the Southern Region. Eng. Cortis was elected with a large majority of 85% of the eligible votes in the FEANI General Assembly held online on Friday 07 October. This positive result follows her co-option in the Executive Board, which position had to be confirmed through the election held during the General Assembly of FEANI which was attended by 31 countries.
As a representative of Malta in FEANI, Ingîniera Malta is pleased to note that Eng. Michelle Cortis is the first Maltese Engineer to be elected to the Executive Board of FEANI, for which she will serve for three years. Malta has been actively represented in FEANI through the Chamber of Engineers (CoE) since 1981 but has never been represented at the level of the Executive Board. This election opens a new chapter in the international relations of the engineering profession in Malta.
Inginiera Malta congratulates Mr. Alain Jouanjus, from the French National Member, Ingénieurs et Scientifiques de France, who was elected as Treasurer on the Executive Board of FEANI, and also thanks Dr. José A. Eng. Michelle Cortis, who is Chairperson of Engineers Malta and Secretary for International Affairs in the Executive Council of the CoE, stated the following when she reacted to the result: “It was humbling to see such a level of trust from European colleagues Ours. This encouraging result was only possible due to the support of both the Chamber of Engineers and the Chamber of Architects – especially Malcolm, Robert, Andre and Jeanette. Through this role, Malta will continue effectively contribute to the international engineering community from our country’s perspective.”
The President of the CoE Eng. Malcolm Zammit expressed his greatest satisfaction[u g[al dan ir-ri]ultat and said; “The past years as an active member of the council were enough to show me the strong relationship that the CoE had built over the years with our international engineering counterparts, especially through FEANI. With the formation of Engineers Malta, I was sure that such relationships would only be fostered.G[alhekk,[iet b[ala espressjoni /ara ta fidu/ja meta l-kollega tieg[i Michelle kienet proposta g[al ko-opzjoni fil-Bord.L-elezzjoni storika tag[ha hi ta’ unur g[all-professjoni tal-in;inerija u g[al pajji]na.I am satisfied[afna b’dan l-i]Development and humbling that as President of the CoE I had the opportunity to nominate the first Maltese Engineer to the Executive Board of FEANI.
