Letter to the Editor – Increasing power plant output – Liechtensteiner Volksblatt, the daily newspaper for Liechtenstein
At the end of the government report on Liechtenstein’s power supply, a summary of the table on page 74/75 entitled “Overview of the potential for increasing self-sufficiency in electricity” is provided. Column 4 lists individual energy sources for electricity production. A comparison is not possible because a summary is structured with completely different specific information. In the case of natural gas, costs of CHF 80 to 100 million are expected. How high the production costs for electricity and heat would be, both for performance and energy, is not specified.
The hydropower of the Rhine is about 120 million francs per barrage. How much energy was calculated is not shown. For the general use of hydropower, one calculates with 12 to 20 centimes per kilowatt hour.
This also applies to the information on wind use and photovoltaics. In the case of wind, one million installed capacity costs around 1 million Swiss francs.
Photovoltaics are about 8 to 12 centimes per kilowatt hour.
The basic relationships between performance, work, investments and electricity production prices were not made transparent.
In any case, no conclusion can be drawn from the table presented.
The Gondosolar photovoltaic project above the village of Gondo, Valais, with an area of around 100,000 square meters is currently being presented to Swiss politicians. It is about a high alpine open space solar system. The feasibility study shows that Gondosolar is ecologically, technically and economically feasible.
The project would target the Malbun, along the Sareiserjoch chairlift to the mountain station, and increase our power plant output.
