With its strong inequalities and its third of housing in closed residences, surrounded by barriers or walls, Marseille evokes certain Latin American cities. In parallel with MARSEILLE PRIVATOPIA exhibition which will close its doors on Saturday October 15 at 6 p.m., the conference by geographer Elisabeth Dorier will take an analytical look at the two faces of Privatopia: the peripheral sprawl of closed and secure residences in the face of the deterioration of housing in impoverished old neighborhoods. A time for open discussion will follow.
By Elisabeth Dorier, geographer, professor at the University of Aix-Marseille and researcher at the Population Environment Development Laboratory (LPED, Aix Marseille University-IRD). The research presented was adapted as a team and is detailed on the following blog https://urbanicites.hypotheses.org/marseille-privatopia
