Baumgart sounds squad alarm!
Things are getting tight at 1. FC Köln!
Dejan Ljubicic (25) falls out after a foul by Gladbach’s Ramy Bensebaini (27) in the derby (2: 5) with a torn inner ligament for the rest of the year. An operation is not necessary, but Super-Ösi has to pause for 10 to 12 weeks according to BILD information.
In addition: Jan Thielmann (20) has to fight back after a virus infection. The permanently injured Mathias Olesen (21), Jeff Chabot (24), Tim Lemperle (20, all ankles) and Sebastian Andersson (31, knee) are still unavailable. To make matters worse, Florian Kainz (29) will miss the next league game against Augsburg (Sunday, 3.30 p.m.) due to a yellow-red suspension.
And the mitten in the league euro stress!
Coach Steffen Baumgart (50) raises the alarm, says: “We now have another problem. We’re running out of guys that are important to our game. With Dejo, that really hurts us. Jan is already hurting us. And that’s when you realize that it can also get tight over time in the long run.”
Time for injuries – frustration does not stay. Preparations for the important conference league game in Belgrade (Thursday, 6.45 p.m.) started on Tuesday, and on Wednesday the plane will fly to Serbia.
