The state will support Fair Play Bygg Norge for three years
– First and foremost, this shows that the government sees the importance of our work and values it, says Mamen to Byggmesteren.
Important milestone for Fair Play Bygg Norge
In the national budget for 2022, under the item Working life – measures against consumerism and social dumping, a three-year support for Fair Play Bygg of NOK two million is proposed annually. The organization has worked hard to be considered for the support.
k
– This does not happen by itself. We have spoken to politicians both to the right and to the left of the government. There is broad political support for us. Not only from the governing parties but also from the opposition. We are very grateful for that support, says Mamen.
Fair Play Bygg Norge now has seven departments in the country. Recently, the organization put in place its new computer system and an improved tip service, which the organization badly needs.
k
– The support from the state will ensure the operation of departments and projects throughout the country. It will be an important contribution, says Mamen.
k
For most organizations, a quick place on the national budget is a dream. But Mamen points out that the organization was started and is run with the support of local craftsmen, trade unions and employers’ organisations.
k
– We would like to be involved when the government formulates policy for working life and seriousness. But even if we now come to the state budget, it is not the case that we no longer need support from serious companies in the market and organisations. We are just as dependent on that effort and local commitment in 2023 as when we started, says Mamen.
Submitting more tips about crime-fighting
Fair Play Bygg Norge has been busy this year.
k
– The way 2022 looks now, we will submit more cases and tips to the authorities than last year. At the same time, the departments have presented many cases in the national and local media, which also have a lot of time. But this is important preventive work that many private customers learn from, says Mamen.
k
Although Fair Play Bygg helps remove criminals from the construction industry, new ones are added. For example, there have not been fewer fraudsters seeking out people in the private market.
k
– No, even if the willingness to buy undeclared work has decreased in the private market, we must recognize that there is still a willingness to buy undeclared work out there. This market consists of ups and downs, Mamen states.
k
– Now it is said that the material prices force people to buy black labour. But people always have a reason to save money and entice themselves. We see that many people are left with poorly done work after being defrauded by so-called “craftsmen”, says Mamen.
Mamen says that Fair Play Bygg Norge will focus on criminal repeat offenders.
k
– We must follow up on various threat actors in the construction industry. These are actors who take advantage of many people, cost society millions in taxes and fees and commit other crimes, says managing director Lars Mamen of Fair Play Bygg Norge.
