San Marino. CSdL: “CGIL asks European governments to listen to the work”
“A delegation of the CSdL led by the Secretary General Enzo Merlini participated in the manifestation of the CGILwhich has unfolded in the streets of Rome in the day of Saturday 8 Octoberone year after the assault on the national headquarters in Corso d’Italia by far-right forces ”.
The CSdL itself gave the news, explaining that “the procession of demonstrators started from Piazza della Repubblica and landed in Piazza del Popolo, the seat of the interventions, which ended with the passionate speech of the Secretary General Maurizio Landini.
“Italy, Europe, listen to the work“, Was the title of the event, which was attended by thousands of people, not only from Italy, but also from Europe and from all over the world, including a representation of Iranian citizens, who are fighting for freedom and the rights of women and their people. In addition to reiterating the firm condemnation against all forms of fascism, the CGIL with this event wanted to promote a program of ten proposals, aimed at both Italian and European institutions, ranging from the protection of purchasing power, to the fight against precariousness, up to the tax reform.
The CGIL appealed to what will be the new Italian government and to the European Parliament to put the issues of work and social justice at the center of politics. Among the ten proposals there is first of all the protection and increase of purchase power of workers and retirees. The CGIL asks the contemporary to fix a ceiling on the cost of bills and to work a one minimum salary “Linked to the overall remuneration of the CCNL” and to “renew contracts, affirming the centrality of the contraction for insured rights and participation”.
Among the ten points there are also the overcoming of precariousness. “The struggle to overcome the precariousness – the CGIL Secretary said on stage Maurizio Landini – it cannot be left to the precarious workers themselves; it must be us, the ones who have greater protection, to fight and strike to guarantee them a right. This is not something that concerns only the union; when we say listen, we are saying to the political forces, those of the majority and of the opposition: go back to representing work and the needs of people in flesh and blood! “
Other themes at the center of the proposals of the CGIL, the introduction of a law on representationa “real” tax reform“Progressive and redistributive” (affecting in particular the extra-profits), the arrest no to flat taximprove the safety in the workplaceensure and improve the measures of fight against poverty.
Maurizio Landini again asked Parliament to melt “all the forces inspired by fascism“, Recalling what happened to the CGIL headquarters in 2021.” A year ago from this square there were those who invited to attack the headquarters of the CGIL exploiting the social malaise and anger, thinking that the answer was to attack the work. When violence is assumed and the attack on workers as an objective, this is called fascism, and that is what we must fight, ”Landini said.
The CSdL Secretary Enzo Merlini he commented: “It was a demonstration in which, in addition to a large numerical presence, there was a very strong emotional participation on the part of the demonstrators. In the words of Maurizio Landini we fully found ourselves and the whole square responded to his intervention with a warm consensus. The fact that among the many flags that waved as anti-fascism and the symbol of support for civil and trade union rights there were also those of the CSdL, was an extraordinary satisfaction. “
After the demonstration, the national headquarters of Corso d’Italia, even with guided tours. Today, again organized by the CGIL, a round table entitled “An international anti-fascist network for work, rights and democracy”, in which prestigious representatives of the ILO, Italian and international trade unions took the floor. The conclusions were also entrusted in this case to the CGIL Secretary Landini. The CSdL also followed the work of the round table remotely ”.
