Presidential election 2022: Video poll: “Not a difficult decision”
The polling station at the Kulturpavillon in Salzburg Liefering is already well attended in the morning. We asked voters how easy it was for them to vote this year.
SALZBURG DELIVERY. In front of the polling station at the culture pavilion in Liefering, we asked voters how easy it was for them to vote in today’s presidential election.
“The choice was very easy for me”
The polling station on Sunday morning at the culture pavilion in Liefering is well attended. It hardly ever happens that nobody opens the door to the polling station for a minute. Many do not want to answer questions about the presidential election in front of the camera. But we are always told the same thing, whether in front of the camera or in a personal conversation: the voting decision was not difficult for most voters in Liefering.
For four of the five consistently in the video, it was a very easy decision as to who to choose.
“The choice was very easy for me. I have my candidate,” said Elfrieda Bacher. Only for Barbara Schwaiger was the decision not so clear. “I thought about it a bit, but I made my decision,” says Schwaiger.
“I want to prevent a runoff election”
Not voting was not an option for any of the five users in the video. “If you don’t do anything, nothing will ever change,” said Elfrieda Bacher. For Maria Lechner, voting is also a duty. “In times like these, you have to consider yourself lucky that you can still vote democratically at all,” said Lechner.
Johann Rieder has a similar attitude. “The federal presidential election is simply an important election, like every election that you should portray as a democrat,” Rieder was sure. Michi Schreyer had an additional reason to vote in this election. “I want to prevent a runoff because it only costs money. You can’t choose these six other Kasperl,” said Schreyer with conviction.
