LMS | Chambéry moves forward, Paris and Nantes follow suit
After their disappointing elimination in the European League on Tuesday, Chambéry reacted well to the Lighthouse. Erick Mathé’s men beat Aix (26-23) and chained a 4th success in a row. They thus had the same number of points (8) as Paris, winner at Istres (28-35). For its part, Nantes retains its leading position by dominating Chartres (34-28).
It was necessary to put the ideas at the place in Savoy. After their disappointing elimination in Veszprem, the Chambériens have found the best remedy: a prestigious victory in the Starligue. Faced with PAUC, the Chambériens did not cogitate. Based on a solid defense against an Ivic on a good night (11 saves at 35%), their performance was solid. They thus led the whole match, against Aixois, however ambitious, but in difficulty against the Chambéry defense. PAUC had not scored as little in the Starligue for nearly a year and a half, it was in Chambéry (27-23).
Offensively, Chambéry was still able to count on his wingers. Richert, with 7 goals, finished top scorer of the match. On the left, Anquetil makes a perfect copy at 5/5, confirming his rise to power. With this success, Chambéry is therefore 2nd ex aequo in the standings and has just won 4 times in a row in the league.
Serene Paris and Nantes
For their part, Paris and Nantes had had a good European week with successful successes against Zagreb and Celje. Their weekend will also have been good. The Parisians return from Provence with a rather serene victory (28-35). In front of the whole meeting, however, they had to wait for the last quarter of an hour to widen a significant gap. Syprzak with 7 goals and Sole (5) thought offensively, while Palicka was serious (15 saves at 38%). On the Istrean side, Berkous finished top scorer with 8 goals. Small consolation for the Algerian left back whose team is red lantern with 0 points on the clock. It should however be noted that Istres had a very busy schedule (Montpellier, Aix, Cesson, Paris).
In Nantes, the evening was good. Even deprived of Minne, the Nantes people made a satisfactory copy against Chartres (34-28). If the former H, Figueras, tried to spoil the evening (8 goals), Chartres stopped but could not tip the match. With a 4-goal lead at the break (16-12), Rivera’s men (7 goals) managed their advantage in the 2nd half. They remain the only leader, undefeated, before the international truce.
