In 2018, Kevin Lecacheux to benefit from having ended his career as a player with a move up to National 3. Returning to competition two years later, the ASPTT Caen midfielder is preparing to hang up his crampons for good in Regional 1. “Kach” dispute his last season as a footballer, obviously in his favorite club, and hopes for the same outcome next spring. In the meantime, he will face Oissel, this Saturday October 8, 2022 (6:00 p.m.) on the field of La Hache in the fifth round of the Coupe de France.
Kévin, facing Oissel is therefore a good match to play?
It’s a positive draw because we will face a team that knows the N3 level very well, a level that the club wants to reach. It’s a game where we have nothing to lose. It’s just a bonus. The objective is to gauge yourself and see the level required to be evaluated in this division in the long term.
“These are things to play 200%”
Last season, you suffered from your career in the cup, even if these are emotions that remain etched in a career…
We let go of energy in the Coupe de France. It draws a lot of energy both physically and mentally, because the more you advance in the laps, the more you want to go far. But these are things that you have to live to the fullest. You have to play them at 200% to have no regrets because it changes from day to day. Having the chance to eliminate N3, N2 or even National teams is good memories.
You remain on a defeat against Mondeville in R1. Is the frustration about what you presented on the pitch?
There is disappointment and a lot of frustration with our level of play and our state of mind which has not been good. He was not up to what Mondeville was able to offer us in the physical challenge. The danger is that we are about to face a team from Oissel who will have athletic abilities of the same level and superior technical qualities. There is therefore disappointment, but also a great desire for revenge. We want to show that it was a mistake.
Before this match, you seem well launched from the outset in this championship.
For many observers, we are one of the favourites. Today there are only three league games. I believe that we are only at the beginning of our adventure. The integration of the new ones is going well, but you have to be able to chain the matches. The month of October promises to be particularly complicated in this sense.
“It would be a disappointment not to get there”
Is there everything you need to make a big season?
There is clearly the workforce, there is the staff, there is a club that does everything to achieve our goal. Recruitment also shows the ambition of the club. Between the newcomers and the youngsters who must confirm their good second part of last season, it is the objective to finish at the top of the classification. It would be a disappointment not to get there by the end of the year.
You are mature…
For the oldest, it is the last chance to improve power at the national level. For young people, it is the opportunity to discover this level. The combination of all of this means that it could be a pivotal year for the club.
Is that what drives you?
The objective is to be able to support the group up to level N3. It must animate the whole group, not just me. But that doesn’t mean you have to put unnecessary pressure on yourself.
With the arrival of Léo Hamel and the additional dimension still taken by Sofiane Naïli, you have a midfielder who can be scary.
On paper, it looks good, as they say. Today, the three of us have to find our bearings with the outbreak of Sofiane, the return of Leo and the place that I can have myself. He’s a nice midfielder with a clear work mentality and desire to play together. On a desire to take pleasure in developing our abilities together.
“I enjoy it all the more”
How do you plan for the future?
It’s my last year.
Even if you go up to National 3?
Yes. I signed up for three years. It’s my last year. I enjoy it all the more. The fact that it’s clear to everyone helps me feel really good. I feel good in every sense of the word. I feel good in the head, I feel good physically too. All the elements are there for me to have fun this year. I had had a lot of physical glitches following my recovery. It’s behind me. I do not want to have false notes, so I give the maximum not to have any regrets.
Do you manage to keep pleasure in first place despite the stakes which can induce a certain pressure?
The only pressure I can put on myself is to help the group perform and achieve the goal. This is the goal for which I came back. I missed it last year, The priority is not me, it’s helping young people develop their potential. I’m clearly ready in the head. It is categorical. You have to leave your place.
