Dortmund with Hummels, but without Reus against them Bavaria
Borussia Dortmund will certainly go into the top game of the Bundesliga against FC Bayern Munich on Saturday (6.30 p.m. / Sky) without Marco Reus, probably with Mats Hummels and maybe with goalkeeper Gregor Kobel. “Marco won’t be able to play,” said coach Edin Terzic on Friday: “Unfortunately, it’s not just the ankle injury, he was also ill this week and couldn’t take the steps we had hoped for in rehab. That’s why it’s too early. We hope next week will look better.”
Defense chief Hummels, like Marius Wolf, has returned to training after a cold and has the best chance of a place in the starting XI. “He signaled yesterday that it felt very good. We want to see again how the body reacts to the load. But Mats is old enough and mature enough to be able to judge that,” said Terzic.
With Hummels, BVB has only conceded one goal in 512 league minutes this season. Without him it was nine in 218 minutes.
Giovanni Reyna could also return to the squad. The use of regular goalkeeper Gregor Kobel is open. “He trained with the goalkeeping coach on Wednesday and completed the full training session for the first time on Thursday,” said Terzic: “It looked reasonably good, but you mustn’t forget that he was four weeks without playing. He’s still our number 1, but it only makes sense if he’s 100 percent fit.”
