Borussia Dortmund vs. Bayern Munich: Deniz Aytekin defends himself
Dortmund – Even before the game, Deniz Aytekin was a little in focus: A man from the Free State of Bavaria is whistling a game of the record champions – really?
But those who wanted to talk things into conflict saw themselves deceived. While Dortmund have often struggled with referee decisions in recent years, it was Munich on Saturday night.
Reason: The foul by Jude Bellingham and Alphonso Davies. Bayern’s full-back is hit in the face and falls to the ground. The Canadian has to be substituted, but Bellingham is not sent off. A wrong decision for Bayern.
“Four months ago we had a training session. They told us that a kick in the face is red,” said Nagelsmann on “Sky”. “He just kicks him hard in the face.” Davies is suspected of having a concussion.
“That’s not surprising given the kick in the face,” the Bayern coach said and barely hid his anger at referee Aytekin.
Julian Nagelsmann’s verdict is clear: wrong decision!
But later in an interview with the “ZDF-Sportstudio” Nagelsmann rowed back a little: “In the end it was a wrong decision that happened. I make mistakes too, like Deniz Aytekin played.”
Relativization or not – Nagelsmann’s verdict remains: wrong decision!
The criticized himself remains calm. When Aytekin leaves the stadium in Dortmund as one of the last protagonists, he seems relaxed. It is known that the adrenaline escapes from his body only slowly – even though at the time when ran meets him at the exit of the dressing room, the final whistle was already an hour and a half ago.
He describes the key scene between Bellingham and Davies ran-Demand like this: “The first card for Bellingham was more of a ‘can yellow card’. Then there was this unfortunate scene in which he meets Davies. However, he came from behind and lowered his head down. The last one kinda got to me There was a lack of conviction or clarity to make such a massive intervention in the game,” said Aytekin. He was missing the last clarity – also expected to Bellingham’s yellow card beforehand.
Aytekin does not want to let Julian Nagelsmann address the various training sessions before the season and interpret it in such a way that a head hit immediately results in a dismissal.
Deniz Aytekin: “There is no automatism!”
“There is no automatism. The red cards, there [bei den Schulungen – Anm. d. Red.] extensive brutality and high intensity are shown. The fouler must also see the opponent. In this case, however, he came from behind and had his head down. There was no sign of brutality!” said the referee when asked ran.
But Aytekin is also ultimately looking for reconciliation with the Bayern coach, who feels unfairly treated a second time because Kingsley Coman was sent off.
“I understand Julian Nagelsmann – considered individually. But unfortunately there was no room for the yellow-red card for Coman. That was the big difference, you can’t compare the scenes. It was important that we [das Schiedsrichtergespann – Anm. d. Red.] didn’t decide the game,” Aytekin continued.
Some hardcore fans of Bayern might see it differently…
