Cooperation between Upper Austria and Salzburg brings improvements in public transport
VOECKLABRUCK. In cooperation between the Upper Austrian Transport Association and the Salzburg Transport Association, the spatial validity of the climate tickets for Upper Austria and Salzburg as well as the Upper Austrian Transport Association youth tickets network and the “Super s’Cool Card” were extended to cross-border lines in the other federal state. The district of Vöcklabruck is also affected.
This cross-state solidarity brings financial relief for passengers who use cross-border public transport between Upper Austria and Salzburg and represents a specific impetus for public transport between the two federal states.
“By joining forces between Upper Austria and Salzburg, we have achieved something extraordinary – entirely in the interests of the passengers. People who commute between the two federal states on a daily basis will experience an upgrade in the validity of the tariff zones for their annual travelcards. Especially in times of rising prices, we are creating financial relief for our passengers in the border region,” says State Councilor for Infrastructure Günther Steinkellner.
“Together with the Upper Austrian transport association, we have brought about an improvement for our annual ticket customers,” says Transport Provincial Councilor Stefan Schnöll, adding: “The extended geographical validity of the annual tickets saves one or the other the purchase of additional ones Zones and so up to 300 euros a year. We hope that this will enable us to attract even more customers to public transport.”
“Mobility is changing, people commute and, thanks to improved offers, also beyond the borders of the federal states. This is precisely why a strong partner like the Salzburger Verkehrsverbund is needed to implement joint cooperation in the interests of passengers. We are pleased that we were able to do this in this case and that we can serve our joint passengers even better,” adds Herbert Kubasta, Managing Director of the OÖ Verkehrsverbund Gesellschaft.
“The regional climate tickets are also so well received because they are cheap and easy. Now we have a new, good and simple message: the respective regional climate tickets and student network cards are valid on all 22 cross-border bus lines between Upper Austria and Salzburg,” explains Johannes Gfrerer, Managing Director of the Salzburger Verkehrsverbund GmbH.
