Ukraine and Finland discussed the issue of nuclear security in the regions
Ensuring the energy security of the region against the backdrop of Russia’s manipulations on the gas market was discussed by Minister of Energy of Ukraine Herman Galushchenko and Minister of Economy and Labor of Finland Mika Lintilja.

During the meeting, the ministers discussed the issues of the energy region against the background of Russia’s manipulation of the security of the gas market and its attempt to circumvent sanctions restrictions, and also emphasized the need to diversify the supply of nuclear fuel.
Herman Galushchenko informed his colleague about the Russian military’s systematic destruction of Ukrainian nuclear facilities, in particular, the Zaporizhzhia NPP and the South Ukrainian NPP.
“The actions of the Russian side pose a direct threat to the nuclear security not only of Ukraine, but also of the entire planet, and if the shelling continues, the world may face a nuclear catastrophe. , – otherwise Galushchenko.
The meeting also discussed the restoration of the energy infrastructure in Ukraine, which was damaged or destroyed as a result of hostilities.
Herman Galushchenko estimates that Ukraine plans to carry out appropriate works taking into account the lessons of the war, so that the restored objects are more resistant to military operations.
Mika Lintilja, in turn, emphasized that Finland fully supports Ukraine in the fight against growth and will continue this support as long as necessary.
As reported, on September 22 in Pittsburgh, USA, a tripartite meeting was held between Minister of Energy of Ukraine Herman Galushchenko, US Secretary of Energy Jennifer Grenholm and General Director of MAGATE Rafael Grossi.
The parties discussed the need for and ways to de-occupy and demilitarize the Zaporizhia NPP as soon as possible, as well as return it to the control of a legitimate Ukrainian operator.
