Portugal has talent and companies need to discover it
September is the month of rentrée for many. But for others, it is the beginning of their adventure in the labor market. The search for the first job is a difficult task for a young person who has just finished his studies. There is a need for guidance from universities in this area, causing students to finish their courses without realizing the best professional path to follow. On the other hand, we have seen, in the media, employers taking up problems in acquiring talent.
Medium and large companies assume that they feel pressure when recruiting talent. According to the 2022 Manpower Employment Outlook Survey, Portugal is the second country with the greatest difficulty in acquiring talent. These employees are also difficult to find, increasingly prepared as forecasts of the challenges, but they do not concern working conditions, but show that they have a profile of finding profiles that respond to vacancies.
Contrary to what it claims as companies, young people continue to be the ones who find themselves most when it comes to finding a job, whether this is the first of their lives or not. According to the report on the evolution of employment and the social situation, published by the European Commission2022 on the evolution of employment and the social situation, published by the Commission during the 2022 crisis on jobs, published by the European Commission2022 and which may come from the COVID-19 pandemic, 1 and which may be exacerbated by the war in Ukraine. In this report, it can be said that it is also young people who have noticed the greatest difficulty in this crisis, contrary to other more advanced age groups.
According to the National Statistics Institute, in Portugal, between 2020 and 2021, the employment rate for people under the age of 25 reached 23.4%, an increase of 0.9% compared to 2020. Labor International advances that, by the end of 2022, 73 million young people worldwide will be affected by unemployment, a value much higher than that recorded in 2019.
This phenomenon can be explained by the precarious conditions that young people are subject to, at the beginning of their careers, such as fixed-term contracts and remuneration, given the cost of living. On the other hand, young people still help to find it very difficult to find a job, as they do not have any type of support during the school period, so that young people understand which career path they most fit into. Even so, scrolling through social networks, we came across testimonies of young people who try hard to find their first job, closed but, for lack of ease, they come as doors to be.
To respond to the solutions available to work and meet the needs of young people in the market looking for a necessary job. Solutions such as Networkme, which make resources available to these young people, aim to help them understand the best career path, according to their profile, directing them to companies. However, as companies need to be open to relationships with these professionals at the beginning of their careers, with a thirst to gain experience and knowledge in the area of work they are trying to enter.
That there are difficulties in attracting important talent, but it is that companies, yes, that are still true, sometimes discovered, and not hidden in others.
