Haar – Resistance to settlement of Isar Aerospace – Munich district
With the settlement of the aerospace companies Isar Aerospace and Blackwave, a huge factory area would be created in Haar. This was evident on Tuesday evening in the building committee, where Dibag Industriebau AG submitted significantly expanded plans for a development on around 13 hectares of the Finckwiese. The reaction of the municipal councils was divided and the choice of words definitely matched the high-flying plans. Then the rocket builder Isar Aerospace is a high-flyer company that wants to compete with the US visionary Elon Musk. Maybe it was intentional, maybe Ulrich Leiner (Greens) just slipped it out when he underpinned his strong no to the larger-scale plans by saying that he didn’t want a “Gigafactory” in Haar.
As is well known, the Gigafactory is already in Brandenburg, where Musk has electric cars built. But from the point of view of the SPD and Greens in particular, the plans that Dibag is pursuing for Isar Aerospace Technology GmbH and recently also for Blackwave GmbH, which is also active in the aerospace industry with its skills in lightweight carbon construction on the eastern edge of Haar, go beyond the scope . With a majority of ten to eight votes, the building committee rejected pursuing the change in land use plan based on the new criteria. On the other hand, the SPD, the Greens and the CSU municipal councilor Alois Rath. Next week, however, the issue will come to the municipal council, where the decision may be different.
The two companies currently based in Ottobrunn and Taufkirchen need more space. In addition to the current local communities, Haar and Feldkirchen have also competed for the high-tech companies. A location decision is to be made this fall, and Isar Aerospace wants to start producing at the new company headquarters by 2026. According to the will of Mayor Andreas Bukowski (CSU), this should then take place in Haar, which is why he pushed through at the end of July that the land use plan should be changed. At that time it was still about eight hectares. After talks with the property owner and builder Dibag, as well as the companies, it should now be 13 hectares, which is why Bukowski brought up the subject again and once again spoke of a “big, big opportunity” for hair.
Ulrich Leiner initially recognized a great impertinence. The Dibag wanted to get the “maximum” out of the area. In Ottobrunn and Taufkirchen, the company is offered significantly less space. The halls would be larger than Ikea or Terminal II at Munich Airport, said Leiner. 24,000 square meters of protected forest would have to be cut down. Whoever wanted to save the project would have to cut it back. Peter Schiessl (SPD) criticized the “massive” use of land and suspected what an intervention in the fresh air corridor would have on the local climate. Last but not least, he talked about Elon Musk. What happens if the rocket builder from Haar does not establish itself on the market? And what if Musk buys it? Peter Paul Gantzer (SPD) spoke of a looser role for the community. Trade tax would not be seen in young companies for a long time.
“We no longer live in the Gallic village whose magic potion is MSD.”
Business people like Elon Musk would have applauded Peter Siemsen (FDP) or the CSU representatives on Tuesday, who countered the doubters that such a company settlement could be a “booster for hair”. Siemsen said Haar is a social community. “And the most social thing is well-paid jobs.” The young entrepreneurs earned trust. Andreas Rieder (CSU) donates the “radiance” of the space company. Stefan Dümig (CSU) attested to this – quoting Musk – a “heroic” order. And Johannes Geiger (CSU) said that hair needs business and tax revenue. “We no longer live in the Gallic village whose magic potion is MSD.” The pharmaceutical group MSD recently left Haar as the largest trade taxpayer in Munich.
Isar Aerospace would shape the intersection of Wasserburger Strasse and Grasbrunner Strasse with a representative administration building. 600 employees are expected there. The company premises would be greened. The start-up promises that an architectural competition will guarantee design quality, as will an advisory board that also includes external experts. The cleared protective forest would be replaced at a ratio of two to one. A 50 to 60 meter wide strip of forest south of the Tannenhofsiedlung on Grasbrunner Flur is planned.
